Treatment Information
IMPORTANT: It is a requirement by law for all owners to request permission
from the Vet prior to treatment commencing. Permission over the telephone
is sufficient as you will be requested to sign my treatment record form on our
first appointment.
Reiki Treatments are not a substitute for veterinary care and therapists are
not a tool to diagnose illness/injury.
Reiki will assist in the healing process both with physical and psychological conditions. or,
You could just book your horse a treatment because you love them (like a human spa day).
An Equine treatment can last anything from 30 to 90 minutes, dependant on how much reiki
energy your horse wants / needs. Each session will start with a short discussion with the
owner/stable manager to enable me to assess progress and changes and to get a brief history.
I may request that aggressive horses/ponies be tied up prior to treatment commencement but this is not always necessary. I do not have to physically touch the horse to give a treatment. It is just as effective from the other side of the stable door. I will sometimes start this way with new clients to assess how the horse reacts to this new energy.
Each horse is different and on initial introduction to Reiki, he/she might run around in circles for 5 minutes, this is perfectly natural as it is a different type of energy then what they are used to . If this happens I will break for a few minutes so he/she will realise that the energy poses no danger, and will then start again.
Some show no reaction at all and are just happy for me to carry on while they eat. Generally, from my experience, if there are no distractions to the horse, he/she will lick, sigh and close their eyes for a relaxing snooze.
Whilst giving Reiki, I will also be working on the chakra system (energy centres). Humans have 7 main energy centres but animals have an additional main chakra which is situated around the shoulders. This chakra is the energy centre which controls animal/human interaction and if this chakra is not working correctly, it will unbalance all the others. Generally these animals will not have a good relationship with humans, can be nervous of human interaction and show fear or aggression.
At the end of each treatment, I will discuss my experience with you but please understand, I am not a vet and cannot give a diagnosis.
During a treatment if you see me standing back from the animal and drawing strange shapes in the air, it is all part of the process. (even if I may look a bit loony). The Reiki energy will continue to work after I have left and you could see a change in just a few days. It is totally up to the owner as to how many treatments your horse has, obviously some deeply ingrained psychological issues will require more attention as it is better to tackle these a little at a time and you will need to have patience with him/her.
At present, I have just began 2 case studies, and I will be in close contact with their owner to get updates of their progress after their weekly treatments. This will shortly be appearing on the site blog, which will also give the owner an opportunity to give her opinion too. I will also be updating the gallery shortly with photographs of some of my new found four legged friends. Feel free to ignore any pictures of my Labrador, she just doesn’t like to be left out!
